CheckMend is a device-history check operated by Recipero. Enter a phone's IMEI or a device serial number and it returns a report on that unit's status: whether it has been reported lost or stolen, barred by a network, or tied to unsettled finance or an insurance claim.
The check runs in real time against billions of records: IMEI loss and theft reports from network operators worldwide, police crime data in the US and UK, and finance and insurance title records. A clean unit returns a green result, a compromised unit flags red. Because it draws on more sources than a single carrier blacklist, CheckMend can surface history that a basic barred-list lookup misses.
For wholesale buyers this is a documentary risk check on a lot before money moves. A device that reports clean at inspection can still be barred later if it was reported stolen or sits on an unpaid contract, and a barred handset loses most of its resale value. Sampling IMEIs from a lot through CheckMend lets a buyer reject flagged units, reprice the batch, or walk away. It does not test whether a device powers on or is locked, so it runs alongside a physical inspection and an activation-lock check, not instead of them.
Reports are bought per check or in bulk through resellers, and a dated certificate can be kept as a record of the device's status at the time of sale.
